Can someone explain me the meaning of this sentence"Computer games PITTING men against warty things"

To PIT someone (or something) against someone (or something) else is to put them in a situation of conflict where they are forced to confront each another.

"Pitting" here means "putting in opposition". So it means computer games that have men as opponents to warty things.
So the men are on one side of the competition and warty things on the other..
