Well, think of it as saying the English word "ray" (sun ray) and add ish (modern....ish ). If you combine the two you should pronanouce the letter coerectly, rayish :)

Almost indistinguishable from the French and German, which is where Yiddish got it from, later passing it on to standard Modern Hebrew.
