What is implied by saying "nah" instead of "no"?

"Nah" is just more casual than "no." It's the "no" equivalent of "yeah" for "yes."

Seconded. Nah is more informal, usually said between friends/family or those close to the person saying it. Another equivalent is: Nope - Finn
