What is difference between these words and why? where i can use them? is it a dialect, formality or connotation difference ?

What is “the” difference between these words and why? Where “can” I use them? Is it a dialect, formality or connotation difference?
Definitions found on Dictionary.com
Chat - used for talking informally with someone
Gossip - used when talking about someone not in the conversation; usually negative things
Astonished – to fill with sudden and overpowering surprise or wonder, amaze
Flabbergasted – to overcome with astonishment, astound
Earwig – the name of an insect that is long and thin with pincers at its end
Clipshears – from a Scot dialect meaning “earwig”
Gave – past tense of give, the opposite of receive, to present something voluntarily without expecting compensation
Donate – to offer up money or goods for a cause
Hate – to dislike a lot or intensely
Loathe – to feel disgust, abhor
Ice lolly – British term used for ice cream or flavored ice water on a stick, American term is popsicle
Icey pole – correct spelling: Icy pole, same as ice lolly or popsicle, from Australia
Insect – an animal in the Insecta class with three pairs of legs and a body divided into three parts
Creepy crawlie – correct spelling: creepy crawly: usually referred to an insect because they creep and crawl
Much – great in quantity, measure or degree
Mickle – this is Archaic meaning great, large or much
Slippery – tending to cause sliding, as ice, oil, or even a wet surface
Slippy – British, quick, alert, sharp
Throw – to propel or cast an object in any way
Hurl – to throw with great force or vigor
