"Pi (π) mal Daumen" bedeutet "ungefähr", "ungenau", "etwa".
Zum Beispiel:
A: "Wie viele Leute waren auf der Party?" - B: "Keine Ahnung, pi mal Daumen...50 Leute!"
(Es waren vielleicht 37 oder 61, aber die Person schätzt einfach eine Zahl. Dafür kann man dieses Sprichwort benutzen.)
