What is the difference between 맵다, 달다 vs 맵콤하다, 달콤하다 ? What happens to a verb when ~콤하다 is added?

달다 : sweet,delicious 맵다 : spicy, hot 달콤하다 : have sweet taste, to have sugared taste 매콤하다 : have spicy taste 콤하다 added "have ~ taste"
