Hello. If you will not mention what is the object, you say "Has leído esto?". But if you are going to mention the object, you have to use the right gender. For example, if the object is a letter, in spanish the gender of letter is fememine, so, you have to say "Has leído esta carta?". If the object is a book, book is masculine, then you say "Has leido este libro?".

En efecto, en español tienes que poner el género: este, esto o esta... dependiendo de lo quer estas diciendo: masculino, neutro o femenino. Puede ser: este documento, esta carta o simplemente, esto.... (por ejemplo esto que te estoy enseñando) Espero haberte aclarado algo. Un saludo.
