선물로 means "as a gift"
생일 선물로 means "for one's birthday"
ex)
그는 생일선물로 낚싯대를 받았다.
He received a fishing rod for his birthday.
크리스마스 선물로 뭐 받고 싶니?
What do you want for Christmas?
때때로 초대 받은 사람들은 작은 선물로 꽃을 가져간다.
Sometimes, guests take flowers as a small gift.
