Why mostly American people usually say, "it is legit." ?
I don't understand why American people always say, it's legit." for mostly context. For example, when I talk about the moon was beautiful and cool, then she said, "yes, it was legit."
When I find the answer for this, the meaning is :
1. according Thesaurus
legit : trained in a classical or operatic tradition
2. accoring google translation :
legit : legal, conforming to the rules.
I really don't get what the relations between 'beautiful moon' and 'legit'.
And many else contexts that they usually use 'legit'.
Or maybe there's a slang definition for this word. Or it is just a habit to say that.

It's legit is a relatively new slang expression. "That's legit!" Simply means "cool", "awesome" or "neat" in this context. Like most slang terms I'm not really sure how it developed.

"Legit" usually means "not misleading". For example, if you found a website where you can download music but you were afraid of getting a virus, you might ask someone "Is this website legit?", meaning "Is this website safe/reputable?" Or if someone is telling you about an investment opportunity, but you think it might be illegal, they could reassure you by saying "Don't worry. It's totally legit."
However, I don't understand the moon being legit.

The word legit is slang, shortened from the word legitimate. Mainly a rapper slang that now others use. " A modern synonym for words such as "cool," "ill," "tight," or "dope." Used to describe a noun that is of a particularly excellent quality. " Someone over say 30 years old or is a professional in the business world would never use the word legit.
