What does 'ineffable' mean in 'the ineffable name of God'? It's one meaning of 'ineffable' which I can't get it. It sais "Not to be uttered; taboo." For example, the ineffable name of God. What does it mean by 'ineffable name'? 'You can't say God's name, as it's too scared to mention' or 'You can't curse God' or 'You can't look down upon God', or What?

In the sense of the "taboo" meaning, it could be referring to the Commandment not to take God's name in vain. Another meaning of "ineffable" is "incapable of being described in words" which could mean here that God is so incomprehensible that he (she? it?) cannot be described by humans. 希望这个会帮助

In this context, ineffable means "sacred". As in God's name is so highly revered and divine that His name shouldn't be "uttered" by mere mortals.

Our explanation of the term "the ineffable God" is necessarily a matter of theology and not language. An acceptable explanation has to be theologically sound. Without going into the detailed theology of it, we can explain this word "ineffable" when applied to God thus: God transcends all human language and no humam word or name can be an adequate name for God. We cannot speak his name because he does not have one in any human language. This is what is meant by the ineffable God or the ineffable name of God. (For those whoare interested in the theology, here is a start. The name God gives to Moses, "I Am Who I Am" (Ex 3:14), is a revelation, but it is also ineffable and incomprehensible to the very limited human mind.)
