I don't see any problem as two separate sentences in terms of grammar.

The two sentences are correct in grammer,but in China we'd like to say: 春天是一个很好的季节。

这是极好的季节。
是和“甄寰传”学的吧，平时是不那样讲的，如果那样讲，就是为了故意增加一点搞笑成分罢了。其实就说成：
现在是春天，非常好的季节。很好的季节。
这样就可以了。“……是极……的”这个句子在古汉语和现代汉语中都算不上好句子。
