HELP ! ( urgent) what's the difference between "satire", "irony" and " sarcasam"?
Below is a trio of annoying words that have been baffling me for a while. I can't endure not weeding through the confusion anymore. I know its hard to explain but please try :) Thanks ahead of time!
1. irony
2. sarcasm
3. satire

Satire - Say for example, there was a news post that was made that made someone very angry
That person might make a 'satire' news post, which is a news post in the same format but it changes the words to the opposite meaning to show how ridiculous the original news post was.
It's usually used by a marginalized group to mock the people that are marginalizing them
For example, you know how a lot of men don't like women who have had sex with a lot of men and want to marry a woman who is a virgin. Then a feminist might make a post saying 'I would never marry a man who has ever had sex with another woman, he should be pure!' It's an obviously fake post used to mock how ridiculous the original statement was.
Sarcasm - When you say the opposite to what you really mean but in a tone that makes it obvious that it's sarcasm.
For example, you've obviously had a really terrible day and everything went wrong and then you're friend asks 'are you okay?' and you say 'oh yeah I'm having a great day!'. The tone is really important so it's hard to express through text.
Irony - I can't think of how to explain irony right now but it's when something contradicts what it is supposed to be, here are some photo examples: http://www.viralnova.com/funny-ironic-photography/
"A man who is a traffic cop gets his license suspended for unpaid parking tickets." (From here http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-irony.html)
