¿Qué palabra es más preferible en las matematicas o la gente usa a menudo?

Yo estudio matemáticas, y escribo ''Periodo'' sin tilde, pero si escribo la tilde cuando digo ''Periódico puro''.
No estoy muy seguro de si ayuda de algo .... .D

Periodo puede ser escrita indistintamente con o sin tilde.
