Is this OK, 'I may be kind of late'? Because 'kind of' means 'a little'. So can I say it then? Thanks!

Yes, you sure can say it to mean 'a little' It's a very common saying.

I would go with 'I may be a bit late.' I don't think 'kind of' works too well here.
