The word for day: 일 and 하루, what is the difference?
Studying Korean I have found two words for the noun day, what is the difference?
I have this from a song lyrics:
하루에 네번 사랑을 말하고.
And read this in a Korean course book.
생일이 몇월 며칠이에요?
오늘 몇월 며칠이에요?
Could you say:
일에 네번 사랑을 말하고.

"하루" is native Korean while "일" is sino-Korean.
If you are talking about a *duration* less than (theoretically) 30 days, you use native Korean.
In practice, it's usually up to ten days.
If you are talking about a calendar date, you use sino-Korean.
Unfortunately, 하루 just means "one day"
1.하나: 하루
2.둘: 이틀
3.셋: 사흘
4. 넷: 나흘
5. 다섯: 닷새
6. 여섯: 엿새
7. 일곱: 이레
8. 여덟: 여드레
9. 아홉: 아흐레
10. 열: 열흘
11. 열하나: 열하루
12. 열둘: 열이틀

20. 스물: 스무날

30. 서른: 그믐
교육은 앞으로 열흘간 지속될 예정입니다.
The training is scheduled to last ten days long from now on.
내가 집에 없는 사흘동안 고양이는 아무것도 먹지 못했다.
The cat didn't have anything to eat during the three days I was absent.

일에 네 번 사랑을 말하고 is not right.
The Sino-Korean word for 하루 is 일일, for one(일: 一) day(일: 日).
So 일일에 네 번 사랑을 말하고 is grammatically correct, but 일일 sounds out of place here.
일일 is used in more formal contexts like 일일 강수량(daily rainfall), 일일 물동량(volume of daily transportation), 일일 섭취량(daily intake), etc.
