What is the meaning of 'first leg'. Here is the sentence:
My football team won the first leg of the two-match tie.

In a two-leg tie, football team A will play against football team B.
In the first leg, football team A will play at their home ground.
In the second leg, football team B will play at their home ground.
Also, for example, in the first leg of the World Cup maybe there are 64 teams playing. But, by the second leg, this has been reduced to 32 teams.
