first of all you have to know which Arabic you would like to talk ? do you want to read about culture ,history and religion ? = Modern Standard Arabic do you want to talk ,have friends or planning to visit a specific country ? = Egypt , Morocco, Jordan etc ? the best way to start is by learning the alphabets then start listening to songs ( of a dialect or MSA ) - the songs will help your ears to get used and be familiar with the new phonetics and sounds. then after that start learning the phrase contraction, then start memorizing words. I recommend also start searching for a language partner , as she will guide you ,support you with many educational materials and will judge them for you, finally as an Egyptian I would " promote and recommend " my own Egyptian Arabic as it's widely understood by most of Arabic speakers and also a great part of the pop culture is in Egyptian Arabic - I'm not saying the others are bad or won't help you , others are great with greater people" but if i asked a Portuguese speaker which Portuguese should I I learn , his answer will be affected by own country :D fun fact Arabic uses the same word logic like Portuguese and his cousin "Spanish". بالتوفيق :]

Hi, I would recommend learning standard Arabic to begin with. Also, learn to read the script before you learn anything else - Maha has a great Youtube tutorial for this and you can learn it within a week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RcgfyuBlz8 Once you can read, try the Madina Arabic books either at https://www.madinaharabic.com/arabic_courses.html or at www.lqtoronto.com There are 3 books to complete but even if you only do book 1, it will give you a lot of the basics. Both sites are free. Once you get the basics, you can also do this online course which is free too. http://arabiconline.eu/ Also, ask questions on iTalki - I have found it to be a very useful resource.

To start you can start by learning prepositions as it will help you to construct simple sentences, like ana fee bayit. (I'm in a house) The problem is when you start learning without vowelation or advanced techniques its overwhelming. *I'm trying to learn arabic for a long.time.

Hi Camila, you have to be sure of the purpose of learning Arabic. If you want to study Arabic or orientalistic studies, you have to start with Modern Standard Arabic. You have to improve all your language skills (listening – speaking – reading – writing) It takes time, but it’s not impossible. If you want to learn ”some” Arabic for any joyful reason, you can start right now with Egyptian Colloquial Arabic. That helps you to start short conversations with Arab friends etc.
