Are both sentences the same? I don't want to hold my breath. I don't want to get my hopes up.

Hi Sinem, Metaphorically, they are both the same, although "I don't want to get my hopes up" is used more frequently. Literally, they're obviously very different, since "I don't want to hold my breath" can also mean you really don't want to hold your breath =)
