Brazilian Portuguese Question
What does my Brazilian friend mean when he calls his Brazilian female friends coração?
I know the word means heart but what nickname in English is this similar to? Example: babe, honey, etc.
Has anyone heard of this?

"Coração" is a very sweet word. You can use it when you mean "baby". I know it's different, but it's just that Brazilian people are like that. We are very kind and this might look weird, but we like to treat people with what I would call "sweet words". You can use "coração" with your girlfriend/boyfriend or even friends; it depends on the situation.

Hi Coleen! As a brazilian native I can say that calling someone as "coração" means calling that person as "honey" or "baby" or "sweetheart". It just a lovely way to call the loved ones. Also, this is a very intimate way of communication. So, we say "coração" to someone with whom we have a very intimate relationship, just like friends and relatives, you know ;)

Hi, Coleen. "Coração" means something along the lines of "honey, dear, baby". It is a term of endearment very common in some regions of Brazil.

Yes! It has exactly this meaning : babe, honey, my love... Something like this. It's a sweet way to treat someone that you have some kind of relation with (friends, girl/boyfriend,...).
