Is "بابت" similar to the preposition "برای" ?
For example, can we say either of the following sentences?
ممنون بابت کمکتون
ممنون برای کمکتون

you can use "بابت" in official and polite way. and "ّبرای" is also ok. both of them are common.

بله. تقریبا رسمی است. در موارد غیر رسمی «به خاطر» یا «برای» هم می تونه به کار برده بشه.
