The meaning of "what do you do"?
Hi everyone,
what's the meaning of "what do you do?"? Does it have several meanings?
(1) The first meaning may be a question of the job of someone?
(2) The second meaning may be the same like "How are you?"?
(3) ??

Hi, "what do you do?" means "what is your job?" "How do you do?" is a polite way of asking "how are you?"

"What do you do?" is also considered a short version of "What do you do for a living?" or "What do you do for work?".
