Vocativo en ingés Me gustaría saber la norma ortográfica en inglés del vocativo. En español cuando llamamos la atención de alguien en una frase, ponemos una coma antes del nombre de la persona a la que llamamos. Por ejemplo: ¿De dónde eres, Verónica? Lo que cambia completamente el significado de la frase sin coma. ej: ¿De dónde es Verónica? Mis alumnos ingleses no entienden este uso de la coma. ¿Cómo se indica pues el vocativo en inglés? The usage is exactly the same in English: you need to use a comma. "Where are you from, Veronica?" is the only correct way to punctuate this question. Look at this classic example: "Let's eat, Grandma!" versus "Let's eat Grandma!" As you can see, failure to punctuate vocative sentences could have some unfortunate consequences...
