Dismissed "You're dismissed" mean "You can go/leave the room. We're done here" How do you use "to dismiss" to mean "to fire/lay off someone"? Does "You're dismissed" mean "You're fired/laid off" too? Or does it have to be in a sentence like this: “His resume looks great, but it turns out he was dismissed from several of his previous positions.”

Hello! That sentence looks correct, I would add "that" as it identifies a specific thing. “His resume looks great, but it turns out "that" he was dismissed from several of his previous positions.”
