Following the other comments, I would add it could be equivalent to the English "vegetate", staying comfortably at home.

Je n'arrive pas à comprendre Daniel. Je n'arrive pas à trouver un synonyme dans ma langue . Car je n'ai pas compris ce que le texte veut dire.
