Let me give some idea tagalog actually mixture of different languages like Malay,Thai,Chinise and mostly spoken words are Spanish and Arabic as secondary languages in the Philippines and the use of Arabic is prevalent among the Filipino Muslims and tagalog considered as the national language of the Philippines. not all Filipino in this country can speak tagalog since there are over 170 dialects that been spoken. The twelve major regional languages are the auxiliary official languages of their respective regions, each with over one million speakers: Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Hiligaynon, Waray-Waray, Kapampangan, Bicol, Pangasinan. Kinaray-a, Maranao, Maguindanao and Tausug. Now if you learn Tagalog you can easily communicate mostly in spanish speaking country the spelling maybe different but the meaning is desame. cowboy...

hi Mabaet, although I'm a filipino, I would say that 'Tagalog' is not as popular as other language spoken across the globe. Similarly, I can't say any career path upon learning our language unless you find a good job here or in any Philippine company located in other country. Despite of these facts, still, I'm glad that you have the desire to learn our language. I know that many Filipinos live there in US and that 'Tagalog' is I believe, spoken by around 1.2 million people and ranked # 6 in" year 2000 census of the main languages by number of speakers." good luck! kaya mo 'yan! (you can do it!) :)

Hello Mabaet From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Tagalog people is an ethnic group in the Philippines. The name Tagalog comes from either the native term tagá-ilog, meaning 'people living along the river', or another native term, tagá-alog, meaning 'people living along the ford', a ford being a shallow part of a river or stream where people, animals, or vehicles can cross it. The prefix taga- means "coming from" or "native of", while the word ilog means 'river'. Translated, tagá-ilog means 'coming from the river' or 'native of the river', and tagá-alog means 'coming from the ford' or 'native of the ford' with 'the' being implied in both cases. Either way, the original name has been contracted to become simply Tagalog. [1] In more recent times, the people of this ethnolinguistic group rarely refer to themselves as "Tagalog", and instead, refer to themselves simply as "Filipino".

Hello Mabaet, Tagalog is an Austronesian language spoken in the Philippines by about 22 million people. It is related to Austronesian languages such as Indonesian, Malay, Javanese and Paiwan (of Taiwan), Cham (of Vietnam and Cambodia), and Tetum (of East Timor). It is the first language of the Philippines' Region and is the basis for the national and the official language of the Philippines, Filipino. So,it is the top language in the Philippines. Worldwide it doesn't really rank high as a top language. It is not even included in the chart of the 30 top spoken languages in the world by number of speakers.
