What's the difference between "hate" and "detest"? There are a lot of words have the same meaning,I don't know how to use them,I always confuse! Thanks a lot!

Even we native English speakers discuss this. Don't worry about being confused. We usually conclude that "detest" is stronger than "hate". Perhaps because we think "hate" is a simple feeling, but "detest" requires more thought?
