"Thank you for doing something" comes out in German as:
"Danke, dass du etwas getan hast".
Also, "Danke, dass du mich als Freund hinzugefuegt hast".

Danke, dass du (Sie) mich bei Facebook als Freund hinzugefügt hast (haben).
