What is مسْتشْفى in the nominative case مرفوعٌ ? I'm wondering, it ends in ى which is a منصوبٌ /accusative ending..to make مسْتشْفى into منصوبٌ singular would be مسْتشْفًى, right ? But that is indefinite, what about definite? Then back to my question, how do I make it nominative/subject in singular مفْردٌ and dual مثنًّى? I can make it into منصوبٌ /accusative dual form -- مسْتشفييْنِ , but is the nominative dual form مسْتشْفيانِ ? Sorry if my question is confusing. If you are confused then tell me so I can make it clearer :)Answer in English please ^-^علامَةُ رَفعه ضمة مُقَدَّرَةٌ على الألف المقصورة منع من ظهورها التعذر I don't know what this mean أنا آسف

The last comment is correct :) علامَةُ رَفعه ضمة مُقَدَّرَةٌ على الألف المقصورة منع من ظهورها التعذر ok, this last sentence may be difficult but I'll try! It is I'rab أعراب which means analysis (we used to do that in the Arabic grammar class) the ى in the end of the word hospital is called ألف مقصورة "alef maqsora" in the nominative form you add "damma" ضمة to words, in this case it is called an apparent (visible) damma such as الولدُ but if it is a word that ends in ى , scholars call it ضمة مقدرة I dunno how to translate it but it is like "virtual damma"....it is not apparent because you can't put it on a ى that's what منع من ظهورها التعذر mean.....التعذر (inability)...the inability to use it on a ى I hope I didn't confuse you....the last sentence is insignificant at all....just don't pay attention to it...it is very advanced grammatical analysis of the word...you will never need it in an actual conversation

Hey besarlalluvia مستشفى in the accusative case would be مستشفى For example : زار الطبيبُ المستشفى ( the doctor visited the hospital ) In the nominative way would still be مستشفى For example : المستشفى كبير ( The hospital is big ) So you can't add tashkeel marks over the ى and the pronunciation would still be the same In the nominative dual form it would be مستشفيان for example: في بلدتي مستشفيان كبيران ( There are two big hospitals in my country ) In the accusative dual form it would be مستشفيين for example : زار الرئيس مستشفيين ( the president visited two hospitals) I don't understand the words definite and indefinite For further explanation just tell me Hesham
