"I'd like a..." is a polite request. What would you like? I'd like a coffee, please. I recognize "хотел бы" as similar to the Czech/Slovak equivalents of "would like...", is this what you are looking for?

I'd like a dragon – Я хотел бы дракона. I'd like to have a dragon – Я хотел бы иметь дракона. I had like to = I would like to (вежливая форма просьбы) I would like to see a white dragon - Я хотел бы взглянуть на белого дракона. I’d like to order breakfast for tomorrow - Я хотел бы заказать завтрак на завтра. I would like a blue cup - Мне нужна голубая чашка. Надеюсь, что эти примеры помогут вам в этом.
