" None of the" or "no" ?
"Not of the food in the fridge was tasty."
Can I use "no" instead of "none of the" in this sentence? Please explain why. Thanks.
**Sorry - I typed "not of" instead of "NONE OF"

You must say NONE. If you were just responding to the question "Is there any food in the fridge?" You could just say no. But to respond fully, you would say, "No, there is not any food in the fridge or there is none"
None is a kind of abbreviation for not any
