"Geige" and "Violine" which is more common to say violin in German?

Ich denke, "Violine" wird mehr in der gehobenen Sprache benutzt. Wenn es etwas vornehmer klingen soll. Meistens habe ich "Geige" gehört. Wenn Fachleute (Musiker) miteinander reden, sagen sie meistens "Violine".
