On Autism and its potential impacts on human relations, Part 1.
Meeting new people is a potential draw for people who want to learn a language. Or maybe it's essential for learning, so you can learn more closely about how stuff works, while also making friends. But there are lots of different people in the world, each with their own awkward way of interacting with others, and their own traits, and learning about a potential conversation partner's quirks beforehand can help ease any awkwardness that exists.
For instance, all of my adopted austic daughters and even I myself have a bit of a "deeper" voice than I think is "expected" by a societal standard, and that sort of stuff is made worse when I panic. I always panic when trying to speak verbally to new people, and it's the ability I lose the most often. So, if you meet someone new like me, and you sense that they're struggling, or maybe they're not what you expect, I think it's okay to ask questions, and try to empathize with what they might be feeling. Surely, they'll return the favor.
