Do you need to work on your English for work, study or travel? These lessons are a fantastic opportunity to build on what you already know and increase your confidence. They are friendly, fun and varied, and we work at the right pace for you.

Each lesson will have a new topic, and will be divided into sections. After getting warmed up, we will spend some time on a language point, such as useful vocabulary or practising a point of grammar. I use a range of texts and activities to make this part interesting, such as film trailers, flashcards and pictures. Next, we have some freer discussion to improve spoken fluency. I will ask you a series of questions on the topic to give you the opportunity to practice what you know.

The lesson ends with an error correction session. This is a few minutes to think about the accuracy of your spoken English, where I tell you about any mistakes that you commonly make. You will usually find that you know how to correct them already.

I will give you a short homework, which is often a podcast episode about 5 minutes long on the topic of our lesson. We will discuss what you heard at the beginning of the next class.

We get a lot done in these classes while having fun, so make a booking and I'll look forward to meeting you!

General English for Higher Level Adults

These lessons will cover a language point and fluency practice within a topic. They are designed for students between 11 and 16 years old. The lesson includes an error correction session, and there will be a short homework.

General English for Higher Level Young Learners

If you are working towards taking IELTS, Cambridge First (FCE), Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE), these lessons will help you prepare. I have official preparation material, practice tests, and also topic-based lessons to support you as you work towards the exam.

Exam Preparation

If you simply want to practise your conversation skills, then this is the right class for you. We will choose a topic to focus on, and I will send you a list of errors and new vocabulary. Please note, the price of this lesson is lower because it does not include the preparation time of the General English class, and will not include other skills training.

Conversation Class

If you would like to work on your ability to read English aloud, this is the class for you. We will choose a text and I will listen to your reading and offer corrections.

Please note that this class does not contain any General English training.

I gained experience teaching Business English classes at International House San Sebastian from 2007 to 2008. I taught group classes within the workplace of an insurance company, and also one to one Business lessons.

I have also been teaching Business English classes on Italki since 2022, from Intermediate to Advanced level.

The CELTA (Grade A) qualifies me to teach test preparation classes. My experience is listed below.

I have experience of teaching the following Cambridge exams: PET, Cambridge First, Cambridge Advanced, Cambridge Proficiency and IELTS. I first gained this experience at International House San Sebastian (2007-2008), and then further at Southampton Language College (2011-2012). Moreover, I have been teaching preparation classes for these exams on Italki since 2022.

Let's meet for about 15 - 20 minutes for a quick chat about your language learning needs and see if we are a good match! We can talk about your learning style (visual, auditory, etc.), test our communication tools (iTalki Classroom or Google Meet), I will provide you with all the materials you need (grammar books, workbooks, audio, video, lists and apps) and get you ready to reach your goals as fast as possible!

As an alternative: If you already know what you want to do, you know your level and you have your own material, then feel free to skip the trial lesson and go directly to a regular lesson - you can send me a text message on iTalki about everything you have planned instead, and we can start straight away. I don't need any preparation for new students, I'm always ready to go!

These are casual conversation-based lessons without a set structure: We can talk about everyday situations, practise a few common situations (ordering coffee, reserving a hotel room or some simple small talk) or practise specific skills (making a telephone call, writing basic emails). I'll give you everything you need to get started for these conversation-based lessons: new vocabulary to learn, useful phrases for everyday situations, and expert tips for memorisation. 

We can base our lessons on your current study plan, to include language learning apps like Duolingo, Babbel or Anki, use any course books you are currently using and also include things like podcasts and YouTube videos. No problem if you don't have any study material yet - I can provide this to you for free. Learning a language from a basic level involves having many different options and I will help you find your perfect learning style, and I can also show you all the best methods and tricks to get there quickly - and we'll have a lot fun along the way!

German Conversation Practise, All levels

I regularly train students for specific exams, with levels ranging from A1 to C2 for German on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). These exams could be a requirement for immigration/integration, or entry into higher or tertiary education.

All test preparation deals with the categories of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and I will prepare you for all of these sections. If you want to give me a deadline (ie. your examination appointment date), then I will assess your skills and put together a project plan of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation topics and exercises you will need to ace the test!

Exam preparation for Goethe & TELC Certificates, All levels

These are structured lessons to kick-start your language learning at a beginner level. We can use any kind of resources that either you or I provide as a course (I have many different options available for free), we can use your favourite apps, online courses or YouTube channels as learning material, and I can show you all the tricks and tips I know for rapid learning and effective memory retention. 

I will make sure to evaluate your progress along the way, I will suggest topics that could be covered next and work on all your skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) in a balanced way, so that you quickly become a German speaker who handle a variety of different situations without stress or pressure. The idea is to get you into real-life conversations as soon as possible and also to turn you into an independent learning machine in only a few lessons!

Let's focus on your grammar and vocabulary skills to improve business communication for your career or company.

Grammar - Master the Basics or Become an Expert: I'll give you all the resources you need to become a language expert and teach you how to establish an ongoing workflow for effective language learning. Learning grammar is difficult, and my first piece of advice is always to take it one step at a time, becoming confident with the basics and then moving on to more complicated topics.

Vocabulary - Learn hundreds of new words fast: I can help you manage your workflow, which can include learning and memorising new words at a high rate per day to rapidly expand your vocabulary in a matter of weeks. I have a 1000-word list we can use that covers all the basics, and I can customise the lessons whenever you need specific vocabulary to become an expert on any topic.

Business English: Vocabulary & Grammar

Do you want to sound like a German native speaker? 

I can teach you very specific pronunciation techniques used by actors, singers and business professionals. My Accent Reduction Program will help you communicate more clearly and confidently. I will give you the tools and expertise to develop a perfect accent. I'll teach you how to move your mouth, make new sounds and sound like a native speaker. We'll use the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) and a chart that shows the different sounds. We can use MP3 files, Anki or any other audio tools to help you train your listening and speaking skills, I'll show you how to imitate any speaking style, and radically change how you sound. The standard German accent is called "Hochdeutsch" and I am a native speaker, if you need a different, regional accent such as Austrian or Swiss, I can do this too, no problem.

I'll encourage you to set up a daily routine to practise your material and we'll measure your progress throughout the course. Student typically book a course of ten lessons to complete the whole Accent Reduction Program, and you will need to be able to practise at least 15 minutes a day for the training to be effective. If you want to, you could provide me with a few recordings of your current accent for me to study and analyse, and also some details about which languages your speak, specifics about your particular region or dialect and anything else that might help me put together the best training package for you.

German for Advanced Students: Accent Reduction Training

The course was 4-weeks, and afterwards I was able to teach ESL professionally.

I completed a 5-year Bachelor course in Engineering.

I taught approx. 7500 hours in Berlin, 25% of those were German ranging from A1 - B2 and 75% for Business English for advanced students. Approximately 10% of the total hours were done online, the rest were in group classes on-site.

I was employed as a language trainer, teaching Business English to small classes of Japanese students from mixed backgrounds, and varying levels of experience.

I worked for Nova ICI for a year, teaching Business English to Japanese professionals. This position included completion of Nova Business English training course, 50+ hours (CTBE)

I provided daily in-house language courses for beginners and advanced students, liaised with HR to create custom-made workshops and personalized training and designed specialist training for accent reduction and vocabulary retention.

Own venture, 6 subordinates, sale and management of 150+ corporate language courses per year. Customer success management of 80+ key accounts in Berlin, in tourism, automotive, education and retail sectors.

Ready to sound like a native speaker? This class is entirely focused on accent reduction, and moving closer to a native level of speaking.

Each class will focus on intonation, pronunciation, and natural mannerisms. Get ready to look silly while learning lip, teeth, and tongue position while speaking! (We usually laugh a lot in this class.) We will also lightly cover the international phonetic alphabet.

Pronunciation Focus Class!

I had to complete the online coursework which included lesson preparation, activity planning, and time management. I also had to complete a set requirement of on-site work where I assisted and observed an ESL classroom.
This certificate enables me to teach English professionally both abroad and in my home country.

I spent two years studying music and theatre. This area of study required such skills as performing recitals, having a familiarity with several foreign languages (being able to speak or sing them fluently), a knowledge of dialect and IPA.

On-call English tutor for all students with a Cambly subscription. I assist ESL students in their English learning process by having a conversation, answering their questions, and providing lessons or activities (according to the student's skill level).

I teach a group of Chinese students (grades 2nd - 9th) online. I take them through the company's curriculum, using a screenshare program. I assist them along the way, correcting their pronunciation and guiding them through each lesson.

I prepared entire academic curriculum for a homeschool student. I also advised guardians on curriculum choice, and managed the student’s coursework.

Full time ESL teacher for an English school in China. Classroom teacher for students grades pre-school - adult. Private tutor for grades 9th - adult. Managed lesson plans for all students, improvised curriculum, and oversaw students’ academic progress from week to week.

Teaches 4 - 30 students in online classroom. Responsibilities include keeping students engaged in class, ensuring that students understand materials, and occasionally leading training sessions for   other ESL teachers.

This lesson is for IGCSE/GCSE English Language / Literature students AND non-native ESL students as well. 

Are you interested in English literature? Would you like to practise English using native English texts? Do you dream of reading English classics without translating? 

If you said yes to the questions above, this is the lesson for you. I use poems, short stories and novels to teach reading skills and also use these texts as a conversation topic. I studied literature at university and during my master's degree at Oxford and I'll use my experience to make the conversations as interesting and though-provoking as possible. 

If you're an IGCSE/GCSE student, we will focus on your curriculum and work towards achieving the best grade possible.

English Literature for ESL students / IGCSE students

We can have individual sessions to work on a particular presentation (pronunciation, stress, fluency, proof-reading the slides and speech) or we could work on general business English skills using the 'Intelligent Business' textbook or native material from news and media. 

Please let me know if you work in a specific industry (oil, banking, accounting, law, science, research and so on) so that I can prepare something that is relevant to you and your needs. 

I have worked in a corporate environment (Audit and Finance) so I am aware of the formality required in emails and speaking.

Welcome to English class! This is the general class for students to take from A1 to C1. Have a real conversation with a native, and I will check what you know, and what you need to learn!

This class is very effective because you SPEAK. I won’t give you useless activities or waste your time. Only what you need. You’re going to speak, and speak a lot!

The class follows a structure and progresses through the English levels with the most essential skills and vocabulary so you will be able to communicate confidently and effectively. The materials are very professional and well-designed.

As we continue, you’ll be able to see your improvement. I’ll give you a lot of time to talk, and I’ll be listening for errors. The most important job I have is to correct your errors, and show you why they’re wrong. I’m dedicated to making sure your English is the same as mine, as native as possible.

PLEASE READ before scheduling a lesson:

Please understand that my time is very important so I cannot allow lesson cancellations.

I will wait 15 minutes for the student to arrive. If the student arrives more than 15 minutes late to the lesson, the lesson will be marked as complete. I can not guarantee that I will be available after 15 minutes but I will try. Communicate with me to let me know, and I will wait.

Lessons must be cancelled within 24 hours. If a student has to cancel within 24 hours, the lesson will remain on my schedule.

Please be aware and responsible for your scheduled lessons.

I ONLY use Microsoft Teams. Please have a working Teams account for this lesson. The reason is because Teams saves our lesson progress. If Teams has problems, we can change to Google Meet, but if we do that, the material will be lost.

General English Class!

I obtained my CELTA certificate from Teaching House Cambridge, New York, so I could teach English to adults. To obtain it, I had to teach a classroom of foreigners from many countries.

I majored in History and obtained a certification to teach in the state of New Jersey.

I taught ESL to students who spoke Spanish. I used my training as a teacher to help them learn things like grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, and they were talking like native English speakers!

I'm an ESL teacher in my home state of New Jersey! My students speak all kinds of different languages, and classes are about many different things. Every class there is a new activity or topic to talk about.

Here I worked in a sales job, separate from teaching. This is before I was a qualified teacher. In this company I attended plenty of business meetings and negotiated sales with managers from different stores. This position gave me insight to what Business English and vocabulary is like.

I worked in this school teaching 12 year olds all kinds of subjects including Math, Science, History and English. This was student teaching and it was required to earn my degree. For this reason, I'm experienced in teaching children.
