"A Japanese student's day but absolutely not helpful" and the last time to post as an assignment. One week has passed in the year 2024. Today is a Monday and a national holiday. In addition, today is Coming of Age Day, when those born in 2003 and 2004 are celebrated, but I didn't go. I don't have any good friends. I was afraid of meeting people from junior high school, so I didn't go. However, I have to go to the evening class reunion because I belonged to the class committee. I will be working as a receptionist there. I mean, they cannot enter the venue without seeing me. I am getting scared to go. The time now is 2:30pm. I will be at the class venue at 6:00pm. By the way, the place is Bashamichi, near Yokohama. The party will be held at a place where people who like to drink will gather. Get back on track, they will be there at 6:30pm. Will I be able to cope without being nervous? I am sure it will be boring, but I hope I will enjoy it. Good luck and I hope we have a great time. Congrats on our coming of age. Unfortunately, a huge earthquake hit Noto peninsula area in Japan on New Year's Day. The news says that 128 people are dead in Ishikawa prefecture as of January 7th. It also said that there are still 195 people unaccounted for after the earthquake. Japanese people are devastated by the news now. A portable battery charger was sent to Ishikawa the other day for the sake of supporting people who were affected by the disaster. Kumamoto big earthquake in 2016 inspired the company "Miraiju" to develop the battery charger and they put it to commercial use in 2023. It can both generate electricity and charge one with high purity Bio Diesel Fuel(BDF) which is composed by refined waste oil. It has 1.7m width, 5.4m length, 2.3m height and 6tons weight. The company says that it can charge 30 smartphones at the same time while charging a electric car. Kumamoto has decided to send it to Ishikawa as a token their appreciation when the prefecture faced Kumamoto big earthquake in 2016 and people all over the country had been supportive of Kumamoto. I, too, think I want to do something I can do to help for them. I really hope everything gets back to normal in Ishikawa.

A technician finished to fix an elevator hooking up the last systems, when a bunch of young men a women dressed in suit attempted to get in the elevator. The technician worked for a big enterprise which summoned a lot of new candidates to get desired job positions every year. Many of those candidates went to the job interview in a hurry. The technician couldn’t stop them in time, because in a few seconds the whole elevator was full. He held out his right hand making the stop signal to an ederly woman who prepared to get in. That was the last move the technician made when the elevator fell off the cliff.

I went sightseeing in Osaka and Kyoto in three days from January 5 to 7, 2024. First, I went to Osaka on the first day. In Osaka, I went to Dotonbori for a food tour. Since it was my first time in Dotonbori, I wanted to eat something typical of Osaka, so I tried takoyaki from various restaurants. I especially enjoyed the takoyaki that contained a whole octopus. Walking around Dotonbori, I also discovered a few things: First, there are many three-dimensional signs. The second was that there was one store that offered shooting gallery, which is usually found at festival stalls. It was the first time for me to see a shooting gallery store that was not a food stall, so it was a new experience for me. I also visited Kaiyukan. Like Dotonbori, Kaiyukan was also a place I visited for the first time. The Kaiyukan is a large vertical building, and as I walked deeper and deeper into the basement to look at the fish, I felt as if I was gradually sinking into the deep sea, which was a strange sensation. Next, on the second day, we went to Universal Studios Japan. I love roller coasters, so I mainly rode them. However, due to the fatigue from sightseeing in Osaka the day before, my legs got tired early on, and I was not able to do as much as I wanted, taking many breaks at cafes and restaurants. By the end, my legs were too sore to walk, but I was able to ride it with little waiting time when the park closed. On the third day, we went to Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and Fushimi Inari-taisha. However, we were not able to see Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Fushimi Inari-taisha as much as we would have liked because we had to start at noon and it was late in the day. I think it was not a very well-planned sightseeing tour, but it was very enjoyable to go sightseeing with friend.

The most popular app in Pakistan is Tiktok nowadays, due to the vibrant environment in the app. Other popular apps are Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube as it's popular everywhere, and people use it for different purposes. Other than this, there are some other apps that most of the people have on their phones, but the above-mentioned apps are the ones that about everyone have on their phones.

On December 22nd, I went to a gym and achieved my 2023 goal of lifting 70kg on the bench press. I was very happy. My goal for 2024 is to lift 85kg on the bench press. On December 27th, my TOEIC results came out and I got 530 points. I'm not satisfied with the result, but I thought I had to try harder. I will do my best to get 600 points on the exam I will take on January 28th. On December 30th, I went to my grandmother's house in Yamagata Prefecture. It was fun because I got to meet all my cousins. It wasn't snowing in Yamagata, but it was very dry. So I caught a cold. On January 6th, there was a junior high school reunion. It was fun to meet a lot of people for the first time in a while. I don't usually drink alcohol, but on this day I drank more than I ever had in my life. More than 30 people gathered for the second and third parties and everyone had a great time. It's been a really great day. There will be a coming-of-age ceremony tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to meeting my friends from other junior high schools and many other people. It's been a great winter vacation.
