I’m going to school at 11 o’clock, but my sister has to be there at 10, so I have to leave home earlier than usual. Because of that, I’m very sleepy and a little hungry in this morning. I decided to go on a diet, so I don’t want to eat too much, but I know I should choose some healthy foods today.

Summer vacation is over, and school has finally started. I’m really not looking forward to it. This summer vacation was very fulfilling. My best memory was going on a trip with seven of my local friends. We had a lot of fun at the beach in Kujukuri. At our lodging, we ate all kinds of delicious food, talked about all sorts of things, and played all kinds of games. It’s a really great memory. Fall has arrived, and it’s been getting cooler lately. Christmas seems like it’ll be here before I know it, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m hoping to go out to lots of different places this winter, too!

Pronunciation Memo: Why "Ten Pounds" Sounds Like "Tem Pounds" Fluent English cheats. When two sounds meet, the first one shifts shape to match what's coming next. Your mouth is already preparing for the next sound, and the current one gets pulled along. This is called assimilation. Listen for it: * ten pounds → "tem pounds" * good boy → "goob boy" * in case → "ing case" * white paint → "whipe paint” * I should go → “I shoug go” Try saying these out loud. Which one feels strange in your mouth?

I've been thinking about the word 'anticipate' and I'm curious whether other speakers feel the same subtle nuance I do. I know that *anticipate* is basically neutral: you can anticipate something positive, negative, or simply predictable. But to my ear, even in a positive context, anticipate seems to create a little emotional distance from whatever is being anticipated: - I'm really looking forward to the trip. - I'm anticipating a wonderful trip. The second sentence is positive, but somehow sounds more detached, formal, or even slightly “watchful” to me - as if you're mentally preparing for something rather than emotionally looking forward to it. The same feeling seems even stronger in phrases like: - We anticipate further changes. - We anticipate strong growth. - We anticipate some difficulties. So here's my question for native speakers: 1. Do you also perceive this slight emotional detachment in 'anticipate', or is this purely my non-native intuition? If you do feel it, how would you describe the nuance? 2. And would ''anticipate'' sound natural to you in a very personal, emotionally enthusiastic context, or would you normally choose 'look forward to' / 'expect' instead?

I went to my part-time job again today. Lately, I have been working more than half the month because I need money. However, I have some extra money now, so I plan to work fewer shifts next month. The work is really hard, but I have many friends there. When we talk I feel that time passes very quickly.

I worked hard yesterday. I did from 17:00 to 23:00. It was very tired. My position was window. Finally, I closed out the register. This is the second time working the register. My senior taught me how to close out it carefully. He is very kind. However, I did that, so I got home late.

In my opinion, most people who come here to learn Arabic don’t know how to read the alphabet (as a European, I find it quite difficult). On the other hand, those who already can read Arabic usually don’t need beginner-level learning anymore, so exercises in the Arabic script are not very helpful. I would really appreciate having more exercises in Franco instead.
