My Goal Is Not Perfection, It’s Progress: My Journey to Speak English Without Fear. For some time, I was using italki. I took some English lessons to practice my pronunciation, vocabulary, and especially my conversation skills. I consider myself someone who, at least when it comes to languages, does not really enjoy studying grammar rules. Instead, I prefer practicing speaking and having someone point out my mistakes so I can improve. While I was using italki, I often felt frustrated because I would practice in front of a mirror and everything seemed to go well. However, when I had to practice my English in front of tutors, it became a struggle. I would have trouble pronouncing certain words correctly, I would get stuck, and it felt like I was not making progress with the language. Now I have just returned to italki, and one of my goals is not to become fluent in English in one month. Instead, one of my main goals is to step outside my comfort zone, accept my mistakes, and be open to constructive criticism. For me, this is about overcoming my fear and understanding that mistakes are part of the learning process and that they help us become stronger and better. Even so, I would really appreciate some advice on how I can handle being corrected when I speak English, especially how to avoid feeling nervous, frustrated, or guilty when things do not go well during my first attempts. I have to admit that I am an introverted person, but I also have a strong desire to prove to myself that I can do this. Thank you very much.
