みなさんー！元気ですかー？私はとっても元気ですよー！
今日のトピックは「誕生日パーティー」

先週土曜日、息子のいとこの誕生日だったので、誕生日パーティーに招待されて行ってきましたー！室内遊園地の施設内にあるパーティールームで行われました。サウジ人はパーティー好きなので、よく室内遊園地やマックにパーティールームがあるんですよね～。家族、クラスメート、その親と兄弟、メイドあわせて50人以上のとても大きなパーティーでした。日本にいたときは、幼稚園で誕生日会があったので、クラスメートを呼んでのパーティーはしたことがなかったし、小さい家族だったので、今回のパーティーの規模の大きさに驚きました。
3歳になった女の子のいとこは、ミニーマウス、ミッキーマウスが大好き。だから、ミニー、ミッキーをテーマにしたかわいいパーティーでした。ピンクの大きなバルーンアーチに名前入りのバルーン、大きなミニーの巨大特注ケーキ、ペットボトルや紙皿もミニー。子供たちにはミニーとミッキーのカチューシャが配られて、女の子はミニーの顔をペイントしてもらってました。息子は絶対いやーという感じでカチューシャつけなかったですけどね笑
人がある程度そろったら、輪投げと椅子取りゲームが始まりました。ダンスと音楽を楽しんで、そのあとはお待ちかねのケーキ。ミニー好きのいとこは目をキラキラさせながら、ろうそくの火を消していました。ケーキカットと思いきや、ケーキを食べる前に、子供たちは室内遊園地のプレイカードをもらって、フリータイム。息子はあまり遊ばなかったけど、みんな大はしゃぎで遊園地を楽しんでいました！
初めての外での誕生日パーティー、息子は少し緊張しながらも楽しんだようです！

Welcome to my podcast. Today we are going to study one very interesting and important grammar, which is gonna help you to sound like a native speaker.

Okay, imagine that you need to go to the hairdressers. Your hair is long and obviously it’s time to do something with it. How would you tell this to your companion?  

“I’m gonna cut my hair?”, but you are not doing it yourself, so, there is a better option.

If you are getting some services, there is a construction which simplifies everything.

To have something done.

Listen to my examples:

I have my hair cut every month.
I’m having my hair cut right now.
I’ve decided. I will have my hair cut!

The verb have is used like any other verb and it follows all the rules.

Present simple: I have my windows cleaned every week. Someone cleans them for me.
Present Perfect: I have just had my dinner cooked. Someone cooked it for me.
Past Continuous: I was having my homework checked yesterday.


You see, it’s super easy and handy!

After 15 months, three Israeli hostages have left Hamas captivity as a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took hold on the morning of January 19.

Dozens of Palestinian prisoners also walked free from Israeli jail as the skies above Gaza and Israel were silent for the first time in over a year, stirring modest hopes for ending the Israel-Hamas war.

The ceasefire deal, with an initial phase lasting six weeks, calls for the entry into Gaza of 600 trucks carrying humanitarian relief daily. Over the course of the deal's first stage, 33 Israeli hostages in Hamas captivity in Gaza will also be released in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Many Israelis stayed glued to TV screens to glimpse the three hostages — Emily Damari, Romi Gonen and Doron Steinbrecher — being released as militants handed them over to the Red Cross on a packed street in Gaza City.

In videos released by the Israeli government, the women were seen weeping and hugging family members. Damari raised a bandaged hand in triumph.

The military said she lost two fingers in the Hamas-led militant attack on October 7, 2023, that killed over 1,200 people and resulted in the abduction of some 250 others.

Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, crowds flooded the streets around 1 a.m. on January 20 as white buses carrying 90 Palestinian detainees — all women or teens — exited the gates of Ofer prison.

Fireworks erupted, and several men climbed atop one of the buses to raise Hamas flags.

All of those being released had been detained for what Israel called offenses related to its security, from throwing stones and promoting violence on social media to more serious accusations such as attempted murder.

Khalida Jarrar, one of the freed detainees, told The Associated Press: "There's this double feeling we're living in, on the one hand, this feeling of freedom, that we thank everyone for, and on the other hand, this pain, of losing so many Palestinian martyrs."

I don't understand why people buy such poor quality items of clothing, wear them a few times and then throw them away. It's terrible for the environment.
I hate the fashion trade. I read somewhere that companies can sell a dress for $5, but they don't make any profit. They're just aiming to attract more consumers to their websites so that they'll spend more money.
My brother's a fashion designer, but I think designer labels are a waste of money. I just shop in high street stores and I only buy casual clothes.

はい、こんにちは。今回はポッドキャストの20回目です。寒い日が続いていますが、近所の公園では桜が満開です。桜が咲くと、公園に人が増えます。桜は綺麗ですが、咲いている期間がとても短いです。桜の花は、１年の間に２週間ぐらいしか見ることができません。咲き始めてから１週間経つと、だんだん花が散っていきます。寒い日や、天気の悪い日が続くと、もっと早く散ってしまうこともあります。せめて１ヶ月ぐらい咲いていてほしいですね。

Hi, this is the podcast episode 20. It's been cold, but the cherry blossoms are in full bloom in my neighbourhood park. When the cherry blossoms bloom, more people come to the park. Cherry blossoms are beautiful, but they are in bloom for a very short time. The flowers can only be seen for about two weeks during the year. After a week of blooming, the flowers gradually fall off. If the weather is cold or bad, they may fall even faster. I would like to see them in bloom for at least a month.

春になると、スーパーにいろいろな果物が置かれます。この時期に一番目立つ場所にあるのは、いちごです。最近、白いいちごもよく見かけます。「見かける」とは、見るつもりがなくても、見ることです。白いいちごは、品種改良によって作られています。「品種改良」とは、人間が植物や動物の新しい種類を作ることです。いちごは、アントシアニンという成分によって赤くなります。白いいちごは、品種改良でアントシアニンが消されています。日本では、色の他にも、サイズを大きくしたり、味を甘くしたりするために、果物の品種改良が行われています。

In spring, a variety of fruits are placed in supermarkets. Strawberries have the most prominent place at this time of year. Lately, white strawberries have also Mikakeru frequently. “Mikakeru” (see) means to look at them even when you don't intend to. White strawberries are the result of Hinsyu-kairyou. “Hinsyu-kairyou” (breeding) is the process by which humans create new varieties of plants and animals. Strawberries turn red because of anthocyanins. White strawberries have anthocyanins removed by Hinsyu-kairyou. In Japan, in addition to colour, fruit Hinsyu-kairyou has also been done to increase size and sweeten the taste.

春なので、環境が変わる人も増えていますね。ずっと一緒に勉強してきた生徒さんが、テストに合格したり、日本で新しい仕事が決まった話を聞くので、とても嬉しいです。言語の勉強で一番大事なことは、使い続けることだと思います。文法や単語を覚えることも大事ですが、毎週一緒に会話ができる人がいると、自信がつきます。自信がつくと、いろいろなチャンスに出会えます。まだオンラインで授業を受けたことがない人は、ぜひ始めてみてください。私は最近、新しいレッスンのアイデアを考えています。記事は４月から再開する予定です。
