Eine Datei „downloaden“, eine Reise „cancellen“, ein „Wellness-Wochenende“ verbringen. Alle diese englischen Wörter sind in die deutsche Sprache gewandert. Viele dieser Wörter sind schon lange integriert: Zum Beispiel wird „Ticket“ statt „Fahrkarte“ nicht mehr als Fremdkörper gesehen. 
Warum breitet sich „Denglisch“, diese Mischung aus Deutsch und Englisch immer mehr aus?
Ein Grund ist sicher das Internet: dort ist Englisch die vorherrschende Sprache. Zum anderen spielt die Globalisierung eine große Rolle. Englisch als Weltsprache und "lingua franca" ist in der internationalen Vernetztheit unentbehrlich. Und natürlich ist Englisch einfach „cool“. Es ist so cool, dass man in Deutschland Wörter erfunden hat, die ein Brite oder Amerikaner nie verwenden würde. Ein Beispiel dafür ist das Wort „Handy“ für ein Mobiltelefon.
Denglisch hat in Deutschland viele Kritiker. Ihnen kann man entgegenhalten, dass sich Sprache zu allen Zeiten gewandelt hat und diesen Wandel wird niemand aufhalten.
