You know, Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Spring Festival is a long national holiday in China. It's the most important holiday of the year. It's the time when the whole family gets together. Just like Christmas. Most people try their best to get back home and have annual dinner with family or relatives to celebrate the coming of the new year. Actually, there is a fun legend about Chinese New Year. A long long ago, there is a big scary beast named Nian, whose name means year. On the last day of every lunar year, it would sneak into the village and scary everyone, even the animals until a wise man told them that Nian was afraid of three things, loud noises, fire and the colour red. The next time Nian came, they hit the drums as loud as they can, lit a lot of fireworks and wore the color red from head to toe. Nian run far away ang never came back. After that, the people started celebrating the coming of the new year.
