On day three of us took a trip to Hokkaido. First we visited the Tsuru Ito Sanctuary to see the cranes being fed. I wanted to take pictures of them flying, but it was quite difficult. Still, it was nice to see the cute cranes. Then, as we moved to Furano, my husband took photos of a steam locomotive and other regular trains. At 6 PM, we went to the Blue Pond, which was frozen and covered in snow, but looked magical lit up in blue. We checked into our hotel at 8:30 PM and went to the hot springs afterwards. I talked to a woman in her 20s from England in the bath. She came to Furano by rental car with her boyfriend to ski. She had also spent over two weeks in Japan before, touring Kyoto by bicycle. It was good practice for my English conversation. It was a fun day.
