Hi, everyone
In a dictionary I read this:
"He says his car isn't working." "Not working, my foot!. He's just too lazy to come."
I know that the expression "my foot" sounds a little bit old-fashioned these days and now cruder expressions have taken its place (e.g. my butt). Are there any informal, non-rude expressions I can use these days to mean "my foot!", as in the sentence above?
Examples:
1)
A: His car is not working!
B: “The heck/Like heck it's not working”
2)
A: ‘Ian can’t come because he’s tired.’
B: Tired, HECK! More like “lazy”! ..... or ..... “Like heck/hell he’s tired. He is lazy is what he is!”
Could I say “Tired, heck!” or “Like hell he’s tired!”??? What about “He is lazy, is what he is!”
Thank you!
