Bravo :) If you are speaking about what is usually happening (=general truth), then the present tense is required in French. If you are speaking about a past experience, something that is not true any longer today, you will need the past tense (as in Manu's correction :p).

Parfois, je me battais avec mes frères, mais seulement pour de bonnes raisons. Par exemple, quand mon frère ne nettoyait pas la cuisine avec moi, ou quand je jouais à un jeu vidéo, et qu'il me dérangeait.
