Some people think that zoos are cruel and should be closed down. Others, however, believe that zoos can be useful in protecting wild animals. Discuss both views and give your opinion. It is believed that zoos help people to be conscious of protecting animals from getting hurt, however, for some people, they consider it a prison built for animals to live. From my perspective, I see the growing popularity of zoos as a positive phenomenon. Although we can see from the local newspaper that some zoo keepers tend to treat animals unfairly, they are used as slaves to attract tourists in order to gain profit. For instance, there is a zoo just near my neighborhood, signs are placed outside stating that customers are allowed to feed the animals by purchasing food provided nearby, but the food are not clean and fresh enough, causing animals to have a bad shape. However, it is known that governments are taking actions to strike such behaviors, therefore, there will be no tolerance to animal abuse in the near future. Apart from the drawbacks, they bring significant benefits to the whole world than we can imagine. On the one hand, zoos guide people to realize the overall living conditions of the animals, teach audiences that it is their responsibilities to help preserve the animals’ natural habitats. For example, there is introduction written on the wall for every species, make tourists familiar with their habits while observing them. On the other hand, they give human beings the perfect opportunities to have closer relationships with the animals, in this way people are inspired by the true beauty of animals. In conclusion, since strict regulations are on the way to eliminate the zoos inappropriate behaviors, still, zoos are a sign to motivate people to live in harmony with every species.
