And yes it can be confusing, so don’t worry. better together- which is an adjective phrase used with verbs such as to be, to become, to work out etc. Mostly used in slogans, i think it comes from a song ‘Better Together’ Eg. Remember that we are better together. Other phrase is to ‘go (well) together’ which means to compliement each other, be suited for each other or look good together Eg. Money and happiness don’t always go ( well) together. Of course you can use adjective ‘better’, Nothing goes better together than bread and butter. But it is used for nouns in this context.
