Hey!
In Russia the most of people have a "dacha".
That's a little country house with some territory for growing plants (e.g. cucubers, tomatoes, eggplants, onions, etc...), maybe little (or not little 🙂) lawn, some territory for flowers (or flowers along a path...
I know the Americans don't have dachas, but they must have somewhere to go on holidays to relax/eat barbecue and so on. Where do you do it, how do you call it and, what's even more important, what do such places look like?

Hey!
Well, I wish we had dachas here! It would be amazing to get away from the city to garden. In the U.S., it's more common to have a garden behind or on the side of your house. For example, I'm currently growing cucumbers and tomatoes in large containers on the side of my house because I live in the desert and we don't have grass in our yard. We also have some roses and other flowers growing on the side of our house.
It's more common to go camping in a nearby forest or somewhere nearby that is close to nature. People camp to relax and very often have barbecues around a campfire. Some people bring tents or trailers to camp in, others will rent a small cabin for their stay.

A lot of us live in large cities in apartment buildings like in Moscow, with no backyard. Most of these people don’t have a place outside the city like a dacha. In many cities, there are what we call community gardens. Here people who live nearby can grow vegetables or flowers. Many people who live in the suburbs, in small towns or villages have enough land around their house for a garden. But in America there is no equivalent to your dacha concept.

Example of American house and yard. Some are smaller. Some larger.

In America, most Americans live in a house with a very large yard. We have space for barbecues and relaxing in the back of our houses in the "backyard". In some parts of the US, people have a "summer home" or "cabin" near a lake or a house or apartment at the ocean. But not everyone has that.
