It was cloudy today. This morning, a friend’s social media post caught me off guard, it was her birthday! Since people here usually invite each other verbally without (bothering with) invitation stuff, and with summer break making days blur together, I’d completely forgotten after seeing her last. My mom quickly helped me do my hair, and we rushed to the local Lego store for a gift. We made it to the party just in time. Everything went well, but I made sure to remove the tag and receipt from the toy. I didn’t want her noticing it was bought from a local shop just an hour before—that would have revealed I almost forgot her birthday. Gosh, that was close!
