Is there anyone who remembers a K-pop track called "Yum Yum”? It’s one of the soundtracks of the 2016 idol competition show "Produce 101.” Even though it's been almost five years since this song came out, I still love this song, and it still pops into my head from time to time.
What I like the most about this song is definitely its novel synth sounds and dynamic structure. The sounds in this song are so bubbly and fresh that they perfectly match its title. Plus, “Yum Yum” successfully blends so many different styles of music (such as trap, dubstep and Arabic music) into one track that it keeps me interested until the very end of the song.
Also, its lyrics are really fun and catchy. In this song, the all-female team, 7 go up, compares themselves to sweet yet exotic ice cream that people fall in love with once they discover its true flavor. I think these lyrics are really creative and suit the youthfulness of the teenage members; the chorus is the cherry on top. It goes: "Yum, yum, give me that give me give me that. Yum yum, give me, give me that. Yum yum yum yum yum..." (Seriously, how can anyone forget these lyrics? Kudos to whoever wrote them. 😂)
So, make sure to check out "Yum Yum" and enjoy this 2016 hit track!
(I heard that this song is still widely used on Korean home shopping channels whenever they promote food products. 😂)
