This is our traditional cake, Banh Chung. We make it during Lunar New Year, which is called Tet in Vietnam. During Tet, all famillies make Chung cake to worship their beloved ones,
or ancestors, who died. The main ingredients are sticky rice, green beans, and
pork. Of course, we add spices to it.
Chung cake is often boiled for 12 hours. After that we press it with something heavy, so that the water inside it will drip out. When it becomes cool and dry, we
unwrap and enjoy. (We often wrap it with banana leaf, or another kind of leaf
which is only available in Vietnam.)
