Actually, this appears to be a *grammar* question. “During” is a preposition, so it must be followed by a noun, not a verb (“perform”). Since there is no determiner (a, the, this, that, or a possessive), the noun must either be plural or uncountable. “Match” and “game” are countable, so only “play” works in this context. English has thousands of vocabulary words, but only a few essential grammar rules. The use of determiners is one such essential grammar rule. Note that a native speaker does not consciously do the analysis that I gave you — we have internalized the rules and use them automatically. If you wish to truly understand English, you need to do the same. Good luck!

NGƯỜI ĐƯỢC MỜI
Match is used to describe a specific outing between two teams in a particular sport. Game is used to describe the difference between different sports and play describes the actions being taken place within the given match. getting a goal in a soccer match is the play. And soccer is the game. So a player needs concentration in their "play" because that is the action they are participating in. So think of the words like layers. There are matches in games and there is play occuring in matches.
