When I feel like I'm on a language plateau, I definitely take a little break first. My brain must have been tired; that signals you to rest. Fortunately, I had yet to feel wholly gotten away from English but was trying to watch movies or social media without a specific purpose when I was in that circumstances.
Changing the focus might work well for learners. For example, if you meet a plateau in speaking, why don't you try to focus on writing? Or would seeing pronunciation or accent would fun for you? In my experience, getting away from English was ultimately stressful. So I tried to enjoy English. If you can discover something new, that would be a significant part of your learning journey and support you when you get back.

I agree that enjoying English is one of the keys to persevering when you reach a language plateau! What do you mean by "seeing pronunciation"?
